    • From start to finish our trip couldn’t have been better. Mayukuyuku is the perfect setting with wonderfully knowledgeable and amenable staff. We stayed in one of the luxury tents which really was luxurious, with real comfortable beds, furniture and tastefully done open- air bathroom with all the facilities you could need. Our tent was expertly cleaned and our laundry washed and ironed daily by efficient staff. The game drives with Boyd and boat trip with Mario were events to remember. It was a privilege to be shown around by staff who appreciate the environment as not only their ancestral home, but as an ecosystem which needs to be preserved and appreciated. We spotted around 30 types of animal over our three night trip, including cheetah, lion, elephant, hippo, puku, Impala, waterbuck, kudu, bushbuck, jackal, baboons, monkeys, bush-baby crocodile, and over 40 species of birds including African fish eagle, crested eagle, three types of kingfisher, snake eagle, open- billed stork, bee- eaters and lilac- breasted roller (my favourite!) Our meals were expertly prepared and the waiter/ bar staff, especially Levan and Clement were friendly, obliging and efficient, pointing out wildlife for us from the dining area which overlooks the Kafue river. A wonderful experience, especially for our twelve- year- old son who was discovering Africa for the first time. We could not have chosen a more beautiful setting or a a better camp in which to feel totally out in the wild, yet still have the “creature comforts” of home. Thanks again to all the staff we have mentioned and the ones we haven’t- you are a great team and we will definitely be back!”

  • Everyone working at Maykuyuku is extremely friendly and welcoming. I felt totally looked after the whole time I was staying there. Patrick, Mario and Boyd are all top-notch and hugely knowledgeable guides- I saw something new on every trip out with them. The drives all last at least 3 hours and come with snacks and a nice sundowner, or a coffee on the morning drives. The variety of wildlife seen was exceptional- there aren’t vast herds of animals stretching to the horizon, but instead a huge range of different species and memorable experiences. Seeing a leopard hunt a grysbok at night was a definite highlight, and everybody
in the vehicle was breathless at seeing two young male lions strolling along the road in the darkness- only a few hundred metres from camp. The  attraction of this place- besides the lovely location and staff- is that it is genuinely in the bush; elephant dung by tents and leopard prints around the toilet block are a reminder that the camp is inseparable from the beautiful wilderness that surrounds it. The ultimate highlight was a pangolin, running across the road in broad daylight. Overjoyed at that sighting. If you want a beautiful, peaceful setting with excellent wildlife viewing, delicious food and warm, friendly service, without the gold-plated taps and $1000 price tag, then Mayukuyuku is the place to go. • Liz and I just wanted to record our thanks to you all for making our stay with you so special. We think you have a wonderful team. Nothing   was too much trouble for the ‘boys’, everyone was so cheerful and welcoming and their openness and honesty was so refreshing, something we would not expect to encounter in an English establishment. We now regard them all as friends. Even Liz’s special tea and coffee did not faze them and the right supply always ended up at the right place at the right time.  Goodness knows when we will be back but we will continue to treasure our fond memories of everyone. Alan & Liz

  • Just wanted to let you know that it was awesome!!! We really enjoyed it and were in very good hands at the camp and during the excursions.  At the camp, everybody was friendly. The guides are amazing. They spot wildlife like no one, and as we were especially interested in birds, they took the time to stop the boat or car in order for us to take that impossible picture. We saw so much wildlife, and identified 60 bird species in just 48 hours.  Thanks again for the good service and making it an unforgettable journey.  Here is one of the pictures we took.  Jan van der Aa

  • This camp is inharmony with nature and the environment. Mayukuyuku looks simple but it is unique and the good part it is affordable. There are enough big expenses lodges. At this great and wonderful place our soulds were healing. It was perfect, we think it is was one of the best times of our livs. Thanks to everybody, Marion and Rolf Kohler, Mongu

  • Great tents, fantastic bathrooms open to the African skies, comfortable beds and everything you need. Hammocks overlooking th river were a nice touch. Absolutely fantstic staff.a great balance of personalities that really made it for me. Good game viewing, comfortable vehicle and the boat cruises gave some of the best sunsets.. This was my favourite camp, for me they have something just right, a balance between comfort and rustic Africa, with a warmth from the people. It is something very special.
